Work has started on a new hotel on the Croatian island of Ugljan which will part of the global hotels and resorts brand Hilton.
As Naši Školji reports, heavy machinery from Kali Construction has begun clearing and preparing the site in the centre of Preko for the construction of a hotel from the international Hilton chain.
The Hilton hotel will be built on a 3600-square-meter plot of land, on the site of the former Hotel Preko, which was demolished in 2009.
The hotel will feature 65 designer rooms, a pool, a restaurant, and all other necessary amenities.
“The investor behind the Hilton hotel in Preko is HOK Insurance. The construction will be undertaken by Preko Ltd., a company owned by HOK Insurance, with a project worth 12 million euros. Approximately 40 percent of the investment will be co-financed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, as the project was approved through a tender by the Ministry of Tourism conducted earlier in the summer,” Naši Školj writes.
The future hotel in Preko, expected to be completed by 2025, will join HOK Insurance’s portfolio and will be part of the Hilton franchise, like the other three Hilton hotels managed by HOK Insurance through Zagreb City Hotels – Canopy by Hilton Zagreb City Centre, DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb, and Hilton Garden Inn Zagreb Radnička.
“After the heritage hotel Dunatovi dvori, which opened two years ago, Preko will gain another luxury hotel, which is a significant development not only for the island of Ugljan but also for the neighbouring island of Pašman,” says Jure Brižić, the Mayor of Preko Municipality.
