Ferries return to port Vira after 30 years

After more than 30 years, public maritime transport is returning to the port of Vira on the Croatian island of Hvar, Morski.hr reported.

The port of Vira is the westernmost place on the island, just a few kilometres away from the town of Hvar. Vira used to be a ferry port but for the last three decades it has been used to provide shelter to fisherman’s boats.

To alleviate congestion in Hvar’s port, the busiest port in Split-Dalmatia County after Split, three daily routes (four on weekends) will be established at the port of Vira starting from Friday, 28th June.

A bus service will also be organised from the bus stop at Dolac in Hvar, as announced by the City of Hvar.

Three ferry operators will connect Vira with Split according to the following schedule:

JADROLINIJA

• Every day:

◦ 8:30 departure from Split

◦ 10:00 departure from Vira

• Weekends:

◦ 13:15 departure from Split

◦ 14:45 departure from Vira

KAPETAN LUKA

• Every day:

◦ 9:30 departure from Split

◦ 10:30 departure from Vira

TP LINE

• Every day:

◦ 11:15 departure from Split

◦ 14:00 departure from Vira

The journey duration is 50 minutes.

The bus service connects all the listed routes, departing from Dolac half an hour before the catamaran departure times (except for the 10:00 Jadrolinija catamaran, where the bus will leave Dolac at 9:10).

The return bus from Vira departs 10-15 minutes after the catamaran docks. The bus journey takes 10 minutes, and the bus fare is included in the catamaran ticket price.
