Passengers forced to either grab a taxi or jump on a bus to catch a flight at Zagreb airport, will now have the option of catching a tram in the future…
For the first time Zagreb’s tram network is set to connect the centre with Zagreb international airport. A ride of around 20 minutes, with around 15 stops on the way, from Kvaternikov square in the city to the new Zagreb terminal in Velika Gorica will be a reality in a few years. Construction of the 50 million euro network is expected to start at the start of 2017, reports daily Jutarnji list.
The new tram route, which will go from Kvaternikov square via Vukovarska ulica, Radnička cesta, Savišće and Domovinski bridge out to the airport, is expected to be complete at the start of 2019 with EU funds helping finance the project. Tickets will be 10 kuna (1.3 euros) the report says.
