In Novi Vinodolski, a coastal resort with a rich cultural heritage, the 30th edition of the Little School of Croatian Language and Culture began today on July 17, 2023.
The event is organised by the Croatian Heritage Foundation. This unique program in Croatia has been running continuously since 1993 and has so far welcomed 1,711 children from 41 countries around the world, along with 106 workshop leaders.
This year’s program has gathered 90 participants, aged 9 to 16, from 14 European and overseas countries: Austria, Germany, Poland, Luxembourg, Ireland, the United Kingdom (Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Scotland), Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Kosovo, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Mexico.
The fundamental aim of this summer program is to enable children living outside Croatia to improve their knowledge of the Croatian language and get acquainted with the cultural and natural heritage of the region they are staying in.
The school’s program takes place at the Red Cross Home in the city of Zagreb, at the Villa Rustica Hostel, until July 28. The children will have the opportunity to participate in various creative workshops and activities, including language, cultural, art, journalism, puppetry, drama, and film workshops.
Additionally, a range of sports, recreational, and entertainment activities will be available. There will be plenty of joyous and happy moments in a healthy, carefree, and safe environment under the supervision of experienced and trustworthy teachers and instructors.
The highlight of the program will be the closing ceremony, which will take place on the evening of July 27.
