Croatian citizenship ceremony highlights LA’s vibrant Croatian festival & picnic

The Croatian Community of Los Angeles celebrated its 72nd traditional Croatian Festival and Picnic of the Croatian Catholic Parish of St. Anthony on the occasion of Male Gospa.
Heidi Wohlfahrt Granic, a member of the parish council and the leader of the Kolo Croatia group, along with Father Ivan Jordan, the parish priest of the Croatian Catholic Church of St. Anthony, welcomed the attendees.
The General Consul from the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Los Angeles, Renee Pea, also greeted the visitors.
She emphasized that organizing these events contributes to preserving and promoting Croatian cultural heritage by celebrating Croatian customs, music, dance, history, and culture.
The uniqueness of this Croatian Festival and Picnic is the ceremony for granting Croatian citizenship to 75 new citizens of the Republic of Croatia.
The swearing-in ceremony was led by General Consul Renee Pea.
Kolo Croatia showcased a choreography by Zeljko Jergan, performing the dance of Boka Kotorska, while Julijana Ban, Nikoleta Ban, Ika Vukic, and Mellanie Grbavac presented a song by Dubrovacki Trubaduri.
The entertainment continued with traditional Croatian delicacies and performances by the Zrinski Group and Roko Blazevic.
