Niagara Falls to be illuminated in Croatian flag colours

Niagara Falls, located at the southern tip of Niagara Gorge, represents a breathtaking natural wonder comprised of three magnificent waterfalls. Its majestic beauty extends across the international border, dividing the province of Ontario in Canada from the state of New York in the United States.
On Monday, Niagara Falls will be illuminated in red, white and blue, which will represent the Croatian flag, to mark Croatian Statehood Day.
Croatia will be marking Statehood Day for the 32nd time on Tuesday, 30 May, since declaring independence from Yugoslavia.
On 25 June 1991, the Croatian Parliament adopted its historical decision on starting the process of separation from other former Yugoslav republics. This decision was preceded by a referendum held on 19 May 1991, where 94 percent of the citizens decided Croatia was not to remain in Yugoslavia but was to achieve independence.
To mark the occasion, the Niagara Illumination Board, organised by the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Mississauga, will again light up on the Canadian side in the colours of the Croatian flag on Monday night.
The lighting display will take place on Monday, May 29th from 22:15 local time.
The famous Niagara Falls is a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge, spanning the border between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States.
The Consulate General in New York has also organised the lighting of Niagara Falls USA in colours the Croatian flag. This display will also take place at 22:15 local time on Monday, 29 May.
