Varaždin voted most beautiful Advent in Croatia

Advent in Varaždin has been voted the most beautiful Advent in Croatia.
The northern Croatian city was declared the most beautiful Advent in Croatia in an annual competition organised by portal Gradonačelnik.hr and based on results of a poll on social media which is also under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
Varaždin secured a convincing victory in the category of large cities with an impressive 7,074 likes of support, nearly 2,800 more than the second-placed Bjelovar Advent.

This was the third edition of the competition, with the participation of 48 cities and 16 municipalities. In the category of large cities with over 35,000 inhabitants and county seats, 16 of them competed.

A total of 55,200 visitors to the Gradonačelnik.hr portal’s Facebook page cast their votes for their favourites in eight days. The content of the posts was seen by over 2 million and one hundred thousand Facebook users.

“We would like to thank everyone who liked and shared photos, encouraging their friends to vote for Varaždin’s Advent and thus enabling us to achieve this final triumph after finishing in second place in the previous two competitions. It is a great reward for all the effort invested in the preparation and realization of Advent in Varaždin,” the Varaždin Tourist Board said, adding. “Moreover, it serves as motivation for us to give our best and be even more creative and enchanting in less than a year, to the pride of Varaždin and its citizens.

However, our greatest reward is the numerous visitors, both adults and especially the little ones, who, in large numbers, visited our city from the beginning of Advent, enjoyed it, and returned full of positive impressions.”
