Croatian klapa groups to perform at World Choir Games and Croatian Club in Auckland

Two renowned Croatian klapa groups, Klapa Kastav and Ansambl Jane, are set to showcase their exceptional vocal talents to the world at the World Choir Games in New Zealand.

Held biennially, the World Choir Games is the largest international choir competition, attracting choirs from around the globe to celebrate the art of choral music. The event attracts 11,000 singers, 250 choirs from over 30 countries.

Klapa Kastav founded in 1992, hails from the town of Kastav near Rijeka. They have earned a stellar reputation for their impeccable harmonies and dedication to preserving the traditional klapa music of the Dalmatian coast.

They have performed at over 20 countries and have numerous awards under their belt, including several top honours at international festivals.

Ansambl Jane is another outstanding klapa group from Velika Gorica near Zagreb. Established in 2004, they bring a fresh and dynamic approach to the traditional genre. Known for their innovative interpretations and exquisite vocal arrangements, Ansambl Jane also has captivated audiences both in Croatia and internationally, winning awards.

Their participation in the World Choir Games highlights their status as one of the leading klapa ensembles in the contemporary music scene.

In addition to their performances at the World Choir Games, both groups will grace the stage for a special one-off concert at the Croatian Club in Auckland on Saturday July 13th, 2024 6pm.
