Outline
Fuller nose clean outline rounded pin. The overall length to width ratio is identical to our Pro shortboard model. For juicy waves the Pro is an excellent board, so the Wavehog shares the same tail and arc in the outline as most modern performance step up designs. These features coupled with a fuller nose that adds extra paddle power make it a really user friendly performance board. The fuller nose straightens the center outline arc slightly, giving good down the line speed and drive around sections, you could almost classify it as an all rounder for solid waves.
Rails
Standard to low profile. A lot of boards at this length assume the rider needs extra float and generally come with thicker rails which are harder to bury and have less sensitivity. The Wavehog rails are relatively refined, even more in the tail, so it feels more like a high performance shortboard.
Rocker
Full high performance rocker. With this amount of rocker the board fits nicely into tighter parts of the wave. It prefers being pumped for speed if you want a quick get away, instead of someone waiting for it to build its own momentum. Even though it's rockered it's generally ridden at slightly longer lengths, so the area and rail line also help with carrying into a wave and around sections, so it will still work for a person who may not work the board as hard to gain speed.
Bottom
Single Concave. The concave harmonizes nicely with this design, the fuller nose straightens the outline, which will draw a slightly longer line when on rail. The concave helps initiate the turn earlier, by engaging the inside rail deeper and earlier. While the outside rail releases water in such a way, to assist getting the board on rail.
Deck
Standard. Not much going on here apart from thickness distribution. Having the nose and tail quite refined reduces swing weight and keeps the tail feeling sensitive and flexy.
Fins
Thruster. For sure the best performance option, I personally like to run a slightly smaller tail fin, as this frees the tail up a little better in tight under the lip style turns and snaps in general.
