Zagreb organising Eurovision final watch party for first time

Marko Purišić, better known as Baby Lasagna, will represent Croatia at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden this week with his his song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”.

For the first time, the Croatian capital Zagreb is organising a viewing party for the Eurovision final, which will take place on Saturday, May 11, starting at 8:00 PM on European Square in downtown Zagreb.

Baby Lasagna is one of the favourites to win what is the largest global televised music competition where representatives from 37 countries will compete.

“Rim Tim Tagi Dim,” which is a song about a young Croatian who leaves his hometown with hopes to become a “city boy” with better opportunities, has been the number one favourite with bookies for a series weeks.

Originally hailing from Umag in Istria, Purišić started his musical journey as a guitarist for the Croatian rock band Manntra. However, in 2023, he decided to go solo. 

His first single, “IG Boi,” dropped through Molly Studios, marking the beginning of his solo venture. Towards the end of last year, he followed up with his second single, “Don’t Hate Yourself, But Don’t Love Yourself too Much”.

Last December, “Rim Tim Tagi Dim,” made its debut on the HR Top 40 chart, securing his first chart appearance in Croatia.

Croatia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 29 times since its debut in 1993. The country’s highest achievements were fourth-place finishes in 1996 (Maja Blagdan) and 1999 (Doris Dragović).

The semi-finals of the 68th edition of Eurovision will take place at the Malmö Arena in Sweden on May 7th and 9th, with the final on Saturday, May 11th.
